Our Story
Since 1989 we have been creating unique log an timber frame homes and commercial structures such as restaurants, breweries, and small businesses that want to make a big impact. Throughout that time we have sourced our materials through Hearthstone Log & Timber Frame Homes due to their access to large timbers and exact engineering processes. Every home or structure is one-of-a-kind, designed to be perfectly suited to its setting and its purpose. Whether you want to entertain large gatherings, create spaces for family to play together or inspire all who enter, we can create the perfect space for you.
Jan Paul Donelson, Founder and President
Jan founded Timberland Design in 1989 to combine his passions for great architecture, history and preservation. His unique abilities to capture what the client wants and deliver a unique vision in a reasonable budget led to growing success in the custom home market. His work has been featured in numerous magazines including Log Home Living, Timberframe Homes, Country's Best Cabins and Lifestyle Blueprint among others. He has been interviewed on television and spoken at home conferences.
Prior to Timberland Design, he worked for several architectural firms in St. Louis and contributed to historic projects such as the Governor's mansion and the Wainwright building and other structures that changed the St. Louis skyline.
